One of my motor mounts broke in the 240 the other day. I order a set of Nismo mounts and tried to install them last night. I was able to get all of the nuts off except one that rounded and never could get it off. It will have to be torched off. The other mount I did get replaced after a few hours of wrestling with it. I put everything back and started it up and everything looked fine. I drove 22 miles back home, then left again to take some movies back. A few seconds after I left the driveway, I threw the powersteering/waterpump belt and it immediately began to overheat. I made it back in the garage and popped the hood. The fan was cracked in several places and shreded the shroud, also causing the belt to burn off and drop in the driveway.
As a result, I had to drive the wifes car to work this morning because I'm too scared to drive the 8. Sunday, I hydroplaned doing 55mph in it on a crowded highway. It was a miracle that I didn't hit anyone. It was the rear tires so I got to practice my drift skills. Still put it into a ditch backwards. Luckily, it didn't damage the car at all. But I wont be driving it any day with the possibility of rain until I get those things replaced.
Looks like I have my work cut out for me this evening. I'm going to go ahead and replace both belts & install an electric fan & thermostat.

Got the new belt on last night, tore out the fan shroud, and eliminated the charcoal canister. I drove it to work this morning and all was well. Me & Kenny were running around on our lunch break and she threw the belt again at the bank. It appears as though the power steering pump seized this time. I think it is a valve problem because it turns freely counter-clockwise but wont turn at all clockwise, the way the engine actually turns. I'm going to go have some fun this evening trying to get it fixed again. After driving the RX8 for the past 2 years, I had forgotten about the charm of these older cars. LOL!!!

I tried to fix it tonight but failed. The pump is easy to change but I spent about 3 hrs. digging and could only find a SOHC & SR pumps which will not work. I looked around town at the parts stores, and none of them had them in stock either. Tomorrow I'm going to search some salvage yards for one and hopefully that will solve it. I would just eliminate it, but the power steering also acts as the belt tensioner. I would definitely say it is that cars "time of the month". I also made a plug for the AIV on the Exhaust and somehow blew it off a few minutes before I threw the belt. So now it sounds like a darn tractor too. LOL!!!

Kenny found me a DOHC pump and got it put on this morning. It is working great. It just sucks that is sounds like a tractor at the moment.

Well, I got the AIV hole plugged, the other Nismo motor mount & tranny mount installed, & had the catalytic converter cut off. The converter was like a freaking oven under the car. It felt like it was about to melt off. It was clogged up like a mofo with 225k miles on it. Tomorrow, I hope to get even more done.

Trae came down Wednesday and helped me out. The car was only running on 3 cylinders by that time. We installed a new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, & O2 sensor. That seemed to get it back on 4 but was running extremely rich. We advanced the timing all the way and still too rich. We ended up swapping out the distributor afterward and still no luck. The timing gun also ended up breaking on us in the process.
Over the weekend, I installed a new coolant temp sensor and another ECU. Still no fix. Rich as hell, and starting to smoke under throttle. The exhaust smells like unburnt fuel. The injectors were already replaced a couple of months ago, so I would like to rule a leaking injector out. It doesn't smell like fuel under the hood anyways. I'm going to try the MAF tonight. Hopefully that is the problem, if not, I'm probably going to start planning a CA, SR, or RB swap.

I swapped the MAF last night and still not the issue. This is starting to get embarassing. I picked up a complete rail & injectors from Kenny. If this doesn't fix it, I'm probably going to trash the engine.
